I love to read. Anything I can get my hands on, from comic books to Reader's Digest, you name it I'll read it. There is no particular printed material that I prefer. It all began with children's books. My dad gave me this book from Hawaii about a magical dog named 'Pua Pua Lena Lena.' A charming adventure story about a legendary dog who once lived in Waipi'o Valley on the Island of Hawaii. The crude drawings in that book remain imprinted on my mind. i also had this 'Monster' book that I would read over and over again. That is until I had a nightmare about one of the monster drawings. One of my most cherished possesion that I still have up to this day is my 'Book of Bible Stories.'As a teenager, i got into Dungeons and Dragons and Fantasy Role-playing novels like Forgotten Realms. One title that sticks to mind is 'The Legend of Huma.' An epic tale about dragons, elves and knights. It was a pretty thick book, and I recall reading it during my bus ride home from school while stealing glances at my crush who was always seated in front of me. Then I shifted to science fiction books and was immersed into the future world of Robotech and Battletech. During college years, I was into Tom Clancy and John Grisham. Funny thing, with all my love for reading, I never got into Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings. Saw the movies, never read the books. The last good book I finished was the Da Vinci Code. I hear so much about 'The Alchemist,' but everyone seems to have read it so what's the point. When it comes to books, I go for History and anything on Asian Culture.
I'm more into magazines now. My favorite is 'Mabuhay' magazine, the one you get from PAL international flights. I also enjoy the Philippine Tattler, it makes me feel rich just reading it. It's odd that I now find leisure and lifestyle magazines interesting, guess I'm starting to show my age. I've lost interest in Tech/Gadget magazines when I realized I was spending so much on cellphones and tech stuff. I still have my huge collection of Video Gaming Magazines, some from my childhood, which I still read up to this day. I keep them for nostalgia purposes along with outdated Comic Book Price Guides and Toy Store catalogs.
